Melbourne, Florida – Central Florida will remain under a significant heat threat today, with temperatures climbing into the low 90s along the coast and mid-90s inland. The heat index could make it feel like 100 to 105 degrees Fahrenheit, posing a risk of heat-related illnesses.

According to the US National Weather Service Melbourne Florida, scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening, primarily west of I-95. These storms carry a potential for lightning. Cities like Orlando, Sanford, and Leesburg are among those with a 50-60% chance of rain.

Residents across East Central Florida should take precautions to avoid heat exhaustion and heat stroke. The National Weather Service advises staying hydrated, wearing light-colored, loose-fitting clothing, and taking frequent breaks in air-conditioned or shaded areas. Outdoor activities should be shifted to earlier mornings or later evenings, ideally between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Similar conditions are expected to persist into Friday.

The elevated heat and humidity, coupled with afternoon storm chances, will continue throughout Thursday. Residents are urged to monitor local weather advisories for any updates on heat warnings or severe storm potential as the day progresses.
