Orlando, Fla. – Sweltering heat and scattered afternoon storms will make for a steamy Friday in East Central Florida, especially along the busy I-4 corridor where rain chances top 50%.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, highs will soar into the 90s with Orlando reaching 94°F and Sanford close behind at 93°F. The best chance for showers and storms will arrive late afternoon, stretching from Kissimmee and Leesburg eastward toward Daytona Beach. Rain probabilities are lower along the Treasure Coast, but Melbourne, Port St. Lucie, and Stuart still face a 30–40% chance of isolated activity.

The heat index could climb near triple digits in inland areas, raising concerns for heat exhaustion. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and take breaks in the shade when outdoors.

A moderate rip current risk remains in effect along Atlantic beaches, including Cocoa and Vero, as surf heights reach 1–2 feet. Swimmers should use extra caution and obey all posted beach warnings.

Storm chances will taper overnight, but heat and humidity are expected to return Saturday. Additional advisories may be issued if storm coverage expands.
