East Central Florida – A heat advisory is in effect across East Central Florida today, with temperatures soaring between 93 and 96 degrees. The National Weather Service warns that the heat index will peak between 105 and 110 degrees, making conditions extremely dangerous. The advisory remains in place until 6 PM Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, the oppressive heat will be accompanied by scattered showers and storms in the afternoon, particularly along the coast. These storms are expected to move inland through the day, providing potential relief from the intense heat. Stronger storms may also bring frequent lightning, gusty winds up to 50 mph, and locally heavy rainfall.

Residents are advised to stay indoors, limit outdoor activities, and drink plenty of water to avoid heat-related illnesses. Those without air conditioning should seek cool shelter. With temperatures forecast to remain in the upper 80s to low 90s through Monday, residents should prepare for continued high heat.
