Orlando, Florida – Heavy rain is drenching parts of east central Florida this afternoon, with roads across Orange County—including areas around Orlando International Airport—seeing rising water and minor flooding.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, a Flood Advisory remains in effect until 5 p.m. Monday as up to 2.5 inches of rain has already fallen from strong thunderstorms. An additional 2 inches is possible through the afternoon, particularly in low-lying areas with poor drainage.

Neighborhoods including Azalea Park, Pine Castle, Conway, Meadow Woods, Belle Isle, and Southchase are expected to experience localized street flooding. Urban streams may also overflow, impacting travel near major roads and the airport. Commuters should expect ponding and reduced visibility.

Residents are urged to avoid driving through flooded intersections and to remain alert as water levels rise. “Turn around, don’t drown” remains critical advice—most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles.

Rain may taper off by early evening, but forecasters warn that additional advisories may follow if storms redevelop.
