Melbourne, FL – A Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect for east central Florida as tides continue running 1–3 feet above normal through at least Thursday, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne. The advisory affects Volusia, Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie, and Martin counties, including areas along the Intracoastal Waterway, bays, and canals.

According to the weather service, minor coastal flooding is expected during morning and evening high tides between 8–11 a.m. and p.m. Water could flood low-lying yards, cover docks and sea walls, and bring waves to the dune line, leading to limited beach erosion.

Residents are urged to avoid driving through flooded roads, as saltwater can corrode vehicles and hide deeper water than it appears. Officials also note an elevated rip current risk and rough surf along beaches from Daytona to Vero Beach.

Forecasters say flooding could worsen by late week if tides remain elevated. Temperatures today are expected in the mid to upper 80s with only isolated showers.

Drivers and boaters along the coast should use caution and stay updated on local tide schedules.
