Melbourne, FL – A cold front pushing across Florida today is creating dangerous conditions along the state’s eastern coastline. Boaters in the Flagler Beach to Jupiter Inlet region are urged to exercise caution as strong northerly winds and 4-to-6-foot seas are forecast through tonight, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne.

Small Craft Advisories are in effect, warning mariners of hazardous conditions on the water, particularly in the Gulf Stream where waves will intensify later in the day. Inexperienced boaters are advised to avoid navigating until conditions improve.

Wind gusts of up to 25 mph and a noticeable temperature drop will accompany the front. Temperatures ahead of the system will hover between 65 to 70 degrees before falling into the 50s overnight, bringing a much cooler feel to the region by Wednesday morning.

Looking ahead, mostly sunny skies are forecast for Wednesday with highs reaching 66 degrees, but winds will remain strong at 15-20 mph. By Thursday, conditions should stabilize, offering partly sunny skies and highs in the mid-60s. Warmer temperatures near 67 degrees are expected by Friday under clear skies.

Rip currents will remain a moderate threat at Atlantic beaches throughout the week, making swimming risky. Residents are advised to check conditions and follow local beach safety guidelines.

Plan for cooler evenings and dress accordingly to stay comfortable as Florida experiences its first significant cold snap of 2025.
