Nescatunga, OK — A magnitude 2.5 earthquake struck just east of Nescatunga early Wednesday morning, rattling the small Oklahoma town. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported the quake occurred at 2:02 a.m. local time, with a depth of 0.5 kilometers.

According to the USGS, the quake’s epicenter was 8 km east of Nescatunga, near the Kansas border. Residents in nearby areas, including Alva and Nash, are encouraged to report whether they felt the tremor. While no damage has been reported, small quakes like this can sometimes be felt over larger distances.

The USGS provides an online platform for citizens to submit their experiences and contribute to earthquake data. Tremor details help scientists understand seismic activity in Oklahoma, which has seen an increase in quakes over the past decade.
