Eureka, CA – The National Weather Service in Eureka has issued a Freeze Warning for parts of Southern Trinity, Northeastern Mendocino Interior, and Northern Lake Counties, in effect until 9 a.m. PST Tuesday.

Forecasters report that sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28°F are expected through early morning, creating dangerous conditions for crops, sensitive vegetation, and exposed plumbing.

Communities including Covelo, Hayfork, Ruth, and Forest Glen are likely to experience the coldest readings before sunrise. Residents are urged to cover outdoor plants, drain or insulate exposed pipes, and bring pets indoors until temperatures rise later in the day.

While temperatures will recover slightly by afternoon, another round of cold, frosty conditions is possible in the coming nights as dry, clear weather continues across northwest California.
