Dwight, Illinois – Four Dwight police officers were formally recognized Feb. 24 for actions tied to a 2025 armed robbery pursuit and a separate “shots fired” response.

According to the Dwight Police Department, Officers Helsing and Perrine were honored for their response to an incident on September 19, 2025, involving a vehicle that had allegedly fled from an armed robbery in Fairbury.

Police said Officer Perrine successfully deployed stop sticks, and both officers initiated and maintained a pursuit of the vehicle. Through coordinated efforts, the involved subjects were safely apprehended. Authorities did not report injuries in connection with the arrest.

Officers Calhoun and Killion were also recognized for their response to a reported “shots fired” incident. While parked, Officer Calhoun heard what he believed to be a gunshot and relayed the information to Officer Killion, according to the department.

Shortly afterward, Officer Killion located and detained the individual involved. Police said no injuries were reported as a result of that incident.

The recognitions were presented during a Dwight Police Department board meeting. The department cited professionalism, teamwork, and coordinated response efforts in both cases.

Dwight is located in Livingston County along Interstate 55, a corridor frequently used by commuters and commercial drivers.
