Poughkeepsie, NY – A narcotics investigation in Dutchess County led to a major drug raid and arrest this past Thursday, according to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.
The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence on North Bridge Street in Poughkeepsie on September 11. According to officials, the operation followed months of intelligence gathering and community complaints about suspected drug activity in the area.
Investigators identified Derrick Ensley, age 41, of Queens, as the individual allegedly distributing fentanyl and cocaine from the residence. Agents say multiple undercover drug purchases were made before securing a search warrant.
During the raid, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Emergency Services Unit (SWAT) and the Poughkeepsie Police SWAT Team assisted in executing the warrant. Authorities said Ensley attempted to flee through a window but was quickly apprehended without incident.
The search uncovered significant quantities of cocaine, fentanyl, drug packaging materials, digital scales, and U.S. currency. Ensley was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree with intent to sell, a class B felony. He was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail with no bail.
This enforcement effort involved multiple agencies, including local police departments from Beacon, Hyde Park, Fishkill, and East Fishkill, as well as the New York State Police Community Stabilization Unit.
