Poughkeepsie, NY – A Dutchess County Drug Task Force investigation led to the arrest of a 48-year-old Poughkeepsie man Tuesday after officers say he violently resisted arrest and was later found with large quantities of narcotics, according to county officials.

According to the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office, agents executed a search warrant at an apartment on Main Street in Poughkeepsie following an investigation into suspected narcotics sales. Agents identified Angel Lebron, age 48, as the individual allegedly distributing drugs in the city. Investigators reported conducting multiple controlled purchases from Lebron before securing the warrant.

On November 25, 2025, Drug Task Force Agents, along with a City of Poughkeepsie K-9 Officer and the NYSP Community Stabilization Unit, took Lebron into custody on North Clinton Street. According to authorities, Lebron allegedly resisted arrest and attempted to gain possession of a Drug Task Force agent’s duty weapon during the confrontation. Officers say he was found with a large amount of cocaine at the time of his arrest.

Later that day, members of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit and Poughkeepsie SWAT executed the search warrant at Lebron’s residence. Officials reported seizing cocaine, drug-packaging materials, U.S. currency, digital scales, ammunition, and a gun holster.

Lebron was charged with attempted criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, and resisting arrest. He was arraigned in Poughkeepsie Court and remanded with no bail. Additional charges may follow as the investigation continues, officials said.
