RICHMOND, VA – A weak weather system will bring a chance of light snow and snow showers Friday morning into the afternoon, mainly along and west of the I-95 corridor, according to the National Weather Service in Wakefield.

Forecasters say accumulations up to one inch are possible in the Virginia Piedmont, including Charlottesville, Farmville, and areas west of Richmond, while little or no accumulation is expected farther east toward the coast. Most of the snow will fall on grassy or elevated surfaces, with minimal road impact expected.

According to the National Weather Service, conditions will remain cold and breezy Friday, with highs in the mid-30s to low-40s. Another chance of light snow returns Sunday, followed by much colder temperatures Sunday night into Monday, when lows could dip into the teens inland.

Drivers should remain alert for slick spots on bridges or untreated roads, especially during the early commute Friday.
