DuPage County, IL – The Third District Appellate Court of Illinois has affirmed the 101-year sentence of Justin Dalcollo for the 2019 abduction, sexual assault, and armed robbery of a female college student.

According to DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin, Dalcollo argued that the trial court abused its discretion and improperly imposed consecutive sentences. On March 22, 2019, Dalcollo approached the victim in the Bloomingdale Court Mall parking lot and forced his way into her car at gunpoint. He then ordered her to drive to various locations, including a bank in Glendale Heights and a parking garage at the Grand Victoria Casino in Elgin, where he assaulted her. Dalcollo was apprehended the next day in Chicago.

In December 2021, following a five-day trial, Dalcollo was convicted on multiple counts, including aggravated criminal sexual assault, armed robbery, and aggravated kidnapping. On May 2, 2022, Judge Ann Celine O’Hallaren Walsh sentenced him to consecutive terms totaling 101 years. The Appellate Court upheld the sentence, citing Dalcollo’s violent history and lack of potential for rehabilitation.

Berlin commended the appellate decision, stating it ensures Dalcollo will never again terrorize an innocent woman. He praised the efforts of DuPage and Kane County prosecutors for securing justice for the victim and the community.
