DuPage County, IL – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for parts of the Chicago suburbs, including DuPage, Northern Will, and Southern Will counties, from 9 p.m. Sunday to noon Monday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Chicago.

The advisory warns of lake effect snow producing 1 to 2 inches per hour, with localized totals between 2 and 6 inches possible overnight. The heaviest snow is expected east of Interstate 355, where conditions could shift quickly from light snow to near-whiteout within just a few miles.

According to the NWS, drivers should plan for slippery roads and reduced visibility, particularly during the Monday morning commute. Temperatures will remain below freezing, allowing snow to accumulate on untreated surfaces.

While lake effect snow is typically narrow in coverage, meteorologists note that even brief bursts can create dangerous travel conditions. Commuters are urged to allow extra time, reduce speed, and use caution when driving Monday morning.

Residents across Naperville, Joliet, Bolingbrook, and Wheaton could see varying snow totals depending on the exact lake effect band placement.

This advisory remains in effect through noon Monday, with improving conditions expected later in the day as the snow tapers off.
