Wheaton, IL – A Chicago Ridge woman has been sentenced to 21 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for a 2023 DUI crash in unincorporated Winfield that claimed the lives of siblings Jorgo and Nastika Cukali.

According to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, 39-year-old Christine Brocious was sentenced after previously entering a guilty plea on September 10, 2025, to Aggravated DUI Causing Death, a Class 2 felony. Prosecutors requested 28 years—the maximum under Illinois law—before Judge Daniel Guerin ultimately issued the 21-year sentence. Brocious has remained in custody since her July 6, 2023, bond hearing, where bail was set at $1.5 million.

Authorities said the crash occurred on June 29, 2023, around 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of Mack Road and Winfield Road. Deputies responding to the scene found both Jorgo, 25, and his sister Nastika, 30, with severe injuries. Jorgo died the next day, while Nastika passed away several days later.

According to investigators, Brocious was driving northbound on Winfield Road in a silver 2005 Mazda 6 when she allegedly drove between two vehicles stopped at a red light and ran the light, t-boning the siblings’ vehicle. Her blood alcohol content was measured at .206—more than twice the legal limit.

State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said the crash “destroyed the lives” of the Cukali family and urged the public to avoid driving after drinking as the holiday season approaches.

Brocious must serve 85% of the 21-year sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
