DuPage County, IL – Four women from Chicago are facing felony charges after authorities say a retail theft at a Villa Park store escalated into a high-speed police chase across multiple jurisdictions just days before Christmas.
According to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, the incident occurred on December 22, 2025, at approximately 11:53 a.m. at the Burlington store located at 174 Roosevelt Road in Villa Park. Police were alerted by loss prevention staff to a possible retail theft in progress.
Authorities allege the suspects fled the parking lot in a red Nissan after being approached by a Villa Park police officer. The driver, identified as Deondra McReynolds, 23, allegedly led officers westbound on Roosevelt Road at speeds reaching approximately 113 mph, ignoring multiple stop signs and at times driving into oncoming traffic to bypass slower vehicles.
Police say the pursuit was terminated near I-290 due to safety concerns. With assistance from the Oak Brook Police Department and the Chicago Police Department, including aerial support from a police helicopter, the vehicle was later located in an alley in Chicago. Officers then observed the four suspects allegedly removing bags of merchandise from the car before taking them into custody following a brief foot chase.
Prosecutors allege the group selected clothing valued at approximately $1,472 and exited the store without paying.
McReynolds has been charged with burglary, retail theft, aggravated fleeing and eluding a police officer, and related offenses. Her co-defendants — Heaven E. Cannon-Triplet, 22; Fontazia A. Rodriguez, 30; and Tandalya Z. Pettis, 26 — each face felony burglary charges. None of the defendants were detained pre-trial.
“This incident endangered motorists, pedestrians, and officers alike,” DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said, thanking multiple agencies for their assistance.
The next court appearance for all defendants is scheduled for January 20, 2026. All charges are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
