Naperville, IL – A Naperville man accused of trafficking fentanyl will remain in custody after a DuPage County judge denied his pre-trial release Friday, authorities announced.

According to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Naperville Police Department, 30-year-old Ahmad Dinah faces multiple felony charges, including controlled substance trafficking and unlawful possession with intent to deliver.

Investigators with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service reportedly intercepted a suspicious package on November 3, 2025, at a Chicago facility. The parcel, sent from Anaheim, California, was addressed to Dinah and allegedly contained about 1,000 fentanyl tablets.

Authorities conducted a controlled delivery on November 5, during which Dinah allegedly retrieved the parcel from his apartment complex mailroom. Police say they later executed a search warrant and found the fentanyl tablets removed from the package and placed in sealed plastic on a kitchen sink. Dinah was arrested at the scene.

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said the seizure “saved countless lives,” calling fentanyl’s impact on communities “devastating.” Naperville Police Chief Jason Arres commended detectives for their collaboration with federal partners, adding that the arrest prevented a significant amount of the deadly drug from reaching local streets.

Dinah’s next court date is scheduled for November 21, 2025, before Judge Joseph Bugos.
