DuPage County, IL – A Willowbrook man accused of attempting to sexually assault women in three suburban communities has been ordered held pretrial, according to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Authorities said Kwame Koranteng, 31, allegedly grabbed and assaulted multiple women between November 7 and November 14, 2025, in Downers Grove, Hinsdale, and Darien. He faces several felony counts, including Attempted Criminal Sexual Assault, Aggravated Battery, and Aggravated Battery of a Person Over 60.
According to prosecutors, the incidents involved women who were allegedly grabbed from behind while walking or entering residential areas. In one case, a woman walking with her infant in Hinsdale reportedly escaped after screaming for help. Police say surveillance and cooperation between departments led to Koranteng’s arrest in Downers Grove.
“Random sexually motivated attacks like these traumatize entire communities,” State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement. He credited police in Hinsdale, Downers Grove, and Darien for their coordination and swift response.
Officials confirmed that Judge Jeffrey MacKay granted the State’s motion for pretrial detention. Koranteng’s next court appearance is set for December 8, 2025, before Judge Ann Celine O’Hallaren Walsh.
Authorities reminded the public that the charges are only allegations and that Koranteng is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
