Wheaton, IL – A Wheaton man with prior felony convictions will remain in custody after allegedly being found with multiple firearms and burglary tools, according to DuPage County prosecutors.

Judge Joshua Dieden on Tuesday granted a motion from the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office to deny pre-trial release for Jermaine Morris, 24, of the 900 block of S. Lorraine Road. Morris faces multiple felony charges, including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Repeat Felony Offender and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, officials said.

According to authorities, the investigation began October 3, 2025, when Maywood police responded to a vehicle theft on Bataan Street. Officers later found the stolen Dodge Charger about ten blocks away and traced it to a towing company that had delivered the car to an address near Morris’ residence in Wheaton.

Following a search warrant executed on October 14, investigators allegedly discovered a stolen Ruger 22 Charger rifle with a drum magazine, a Sig Sauer 9mm handgun, a Polymer80 gun kit, and several electronic devices, including 13 cell phones and reprogramming tools.

“Public safety remains the cornerstone of my office,” said State’s Attorney Robert Berlin, commending the Wheaton and Maywood Police Departments for removing “dangerous weapons from our streets.”

Morris’ next court appearance is scheduled for November 3, 2025, before Judge Daniel Guerin.
