DuPage County, IL – Four Chicago residents were arrested following a coordinated police operation after a restaurant burglary early Monday morning in Downers Grove, according to the Elmhurst Police Department.
The investigation began after a series of recent suburban burglaries led police to identify a silver Jeep Compass as a vehicle of interest. Around 2 a.m. on January 5, Elmhurst detectives, assisted by other DuPage County agencies, observed suspects breaking into Mr. Submarine at 1322 Ogden Avenue in Downers Grove. Two male offenders allegedly shattered the glass door to enter the restaurant, while two female lookouts waited nearby in a white Kia Soul.
After the burglary, the suspects fled in both vehicles. The Kia was stopped near Ogden Avenue and I-355, and the two women were taken into custody. Police later located the Jeep near Maple Avenue and I-355, where two men were arrested after a short foot pursuit.
According to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, those charged include Andrew Moore, 30; Justen Wallace, 23; Alexis Reed, 32; and Nadia Chillis, 34 — all Chicago residents. Charges range from burglary and criminal damage to property to resisting a peace officer.
The suspects appeared in DuPage County Court on January 6 and were granted pre-trial release. Police say two additional male offenders remain at large.
Elmhurst and Downers Grove police credited multiple suburban departments and Illinois State Police for their assistance.
