Elmhurst, IL – A Virginia man was arrested this week after allegedly entering an employee office at Endeavor Elmhurst Hospital, stealing credit cards, and using them for unauthorized purchases, police said Wednesday.

According to the Elmhurst Police Department, officers responded to the hospital on November 19, 2025, around 1:00 p.m., after an employee reported several credit cards stolen from her purse. The victim soon learned her cards were used for about $2,000 in Walmart gift card purchases in nearby Villa Park.

Witnesses told police they saw a man wearing a yellow surgical mask, black hoodie, and dark pants wandering the hospital halls. Detectives later reviewed Walmart surveillance footage, identifying the same suspect. Investigators tracked the man’s vehicle through license plate cameras to a hotel parking lot in Rosemont, Illinois, where he was taken into custody.

Police said the suspect, Marvin L. Muse, 46, of Martinsville, Virginia, was found with the victim’s stolen credit cards and a Walmart receipt. He was charged with burglary and unlawful possession of credit cards, and transported to the DuPage County Judicial Center for his first court appearance.

Authorities reminded employees to secure valuables during the busy holiday season. “Thieves make easy scores by simply wandering into open offices,” police said in the release.

Muse is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
