Wheaton, IL – Children across DuPage County will take part in a special holiday tradition this Saturday as the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office and Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 109 host their annual law enforcement holiday shopping event.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, participating children will begin the morning of Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, at Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center in Glen Ellyn, where deputies and local police officers will serve breakfast and offer photo opportunities with Santa. Afterward, each child will ride with a Deputy Sheriff or Police Officer in a lights-and-sirens parade from Glen Ellyn to the Meijer store in Bloomingdale.
The caravan of emergency vehicles is expected to leave the sports center at about 9:15 a.m., traveling west on St. Charles Road and north on Gary Avenue before arriving at Meijer between 9:45 and 10 a.m.
Each participating child will be paired with an officer and receive $150 to spend on family members and themselves. Children are selected by partnering law enforcement agencies and townships throughout DuPage County, with private donations and community partnerships helping fund the program.
Officials thanked the DuPage FOP #109, Ackerman Park, and Glen Ellyn Police for their support, noting the event would not be possible without collaborative efforts and community contributions.
