Carol Stream, Illinois — On Wednesday, July 16, Carol Stream Police responded to a reported bomb threat at the Woodspring Suites on Gary Avenue.
Officers received the call at approximately 6:15 p.m. When arriving at the building, police coordinated with on-site staff and Carol Stream Fire Department personnel to evacuate the building safely. Police also closed both lanes of traffic on Gary Avenue outside of the hotel.
The DuPage County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad conducted a comprehensive search when arriving on the scene. No evidence of explosives were found. Guests were allowed to return to their rooms once safety of the building was guaranteed. There were no reported injuries.
The Bloomingdale Police Department, Glendale Heights Police Department and Bartlett Police Department were at the incident as well. The Carol Stream Police Department said the bomb threat remains an active criminal investigation. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the department.
