Wheaton, IL – A Chicago man accused of fleeing police after a high-end boutique burglary in Hinsdale has been ordered held pretrial, DuPage County officials announced Friday.

According to DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Hinsdale Police Chief Brian King, 33-year-old Courtney Shivers of Chicago allegedly participated in a burglary at a Washington Street boutique around 3:36 a.m. January 26. Police say officers responded to reports of an alarm and spotted a fleeing vehicle that later crashed on nearby South Washington Street.

Authorities said Shivers allegedly fled on foot before being taken into custody. Two others, Ronnie Hardy, 27, and Jeremiah Brown, 20, were also arrested but released under non-detention provisions.

Prosecutors said officers recovered merchandise and burglary tools linked to the break-in. According to the complaint, the suspects allegedly forced entry into the boutique and removed luxury goods before leading officers on a brief pursuit.

Judge Joshua Dieden granted the state’s motion to detain Shivers, citing risk factors and the serious nature of the offense. “These arrests would not have been possible without the hard work of our officers and State’s Attorney’s Office,” Chief King said in a statement.

All three suspects face felony burglary and resisting police charges. Their next court appearance is scheduled for February 23, 2026, in front of Judge Mia McPherson.
