Aurora, IL – In honor of Veterans Day, the Pierce Art and History Center in downtown Aurora has opened a new exhibit titled “Poster Art of the World Wars.” The collection features 25 original World War I and World War II patriotic posters designed to inspire enlistment, boost morale, and promote war bond sales.
According to event organizers, the exhibit opened Friday, Nov. 10, at the museum located at 20 E. Downer Place. Admission is free and open to the public. The display runs through Nov. 22, with visiting hours Wednesday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Among the highlights are vivid lithographed works, including a Flanders Fields-themed poster and another urging Americans to buy war bonds.
The museum is also featuring artifacts from both wars, such as the Medal of Honor awarded posthumously to Auroran Walter E. Truemper, adding a personal local connection to the national history on display.
