Glendale Heights, IL – A Glendale Heights man is facing felony charges after police say a bullet fired from his apartment went through a wall and into a neighboring unit where a 4-year-old child was present.
According to DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Glendale Heights Police Chief George Pappas, 34-year-old Justin Luci has been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm following the Jan. 3 incident at a building on the 600 block of E. Fullerton Avenue.
Authorities said officers responded around 10:38 p.m. after receiving reports of a gunshot. When police arrived, they spoke with Luci, who allegedly fired a 9mm bullet through the wall of his unit. The round was later found inside a neighbor’s apartment, just feet away from a child’s sleeping area.
Police recovered the firearm and spent casing, and Luci was taken into custody. No injuries were reported.
“This alleged behavior is incredibly reckless and could have easily resulted in tragedy,” Berlin said in a statement Thursday. “We are thankful no one was hurt.”
Luci appeared in First Appearance Court on Thursday, where Judge Brian Telander set bond at $25,000 with a 10% deposit required for release. He is scheduled to appear again on Feb. 2, 2026.
If convicted, Luci could face a prison sentence for the felony offense.
