Lombard, IL – Residents in DuPage County are being advised of recent immigration enforcement operations in nearby communities, according to a statement Monday from the Village of Lombard.

According to the announcement, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other federal agencies have been conducting enforcement activity in the region. The Lombard Police Department (LPD) emphasized that it does not participate in, or assist with, immigration enforcement operations in compliance with the Illinois Trust Act.

The Trust Act bars local law enforcement from inquiring about immigration status or detaining individuals based solely on that status. Lombard officers, however, continue to enforce state laws and local ordinances, such as investigating crimes and maintaining safety during demonstrations or emergencies.

Officials clarified that when residents call 911, Lombard officers respond independently and are not accompanied by ICE. Police reiterated that they do not ask about immigration status and do not provide assistance to federal agencies in immigration investigations.

Residents with concerns about federal immigration operations were directed to contact federal agencies directly. The Village noted that the Lombard Police Department has no specific information about ICE activity in the area.

Community members with local safety concerns may contact the department at its non-emergency number, (630) 873-4400, or email police@villageoflombard.org. Additional information about the Illinois Trust Act is available through the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.
