Lisle, IL – A young child was rescued from an icy pond at the Lakeside Apartments Complex in Lisle on Sunday afternoon after wandering from home. Good Samaritans and emergency responders worked together to pull the juvenile from the frigid water near the 4700 block of Lake Trail Drive.
According to the Lisle Police Department, the incident occurred around 2 p.m. when the child fell into the pond. Community members nearby acted quickly, entering the water to assist before police officers and firefighters from the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District arrived on the scene.
The child, whose identity has not been disclosed, was taken to a nearby hospital for a precautionary evaluation due to potential cold exposure.
Authorities remind residents to be vigilant around frozen or partially frozen ponds, as changing temperatures can weaken ice conditions.
