Dunn County, WI Drug Case: 39-Year-Old Allegedly Distributed Meth, Fentanyl

Chippewa Falls, WI – A Chippewa Falls man has been federally indicted on charges of distributing methamphetamine and fentanyl following an investigation led by the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Jason Barnard, 39, was charged with distributing methamphetamine and fentanyl and with possession of both drugs intended for distribution. Federal prosecutors allege that Barnard distributed 50 grams or more of methamphetamine in October 2024 and that he also distributed a mixture containing both fentanyl and methamphetamine.

Court filings further allege that on December 6, 2024, Barnard possessed over 500 grams of methamphetamine and 40 grams or more of fentanyl, all intended for distribution.

If convicted of distributing 50 grams or more of methamphetamine or 40 grams or more of fentanyl, Barnard faces a mandatory minimum of five years in prison and a maximum of 40 years. If convicted of possessing 500 grams or more of methamphetamine, the penalty increases to a minimum of 10 years and up to life in prison. Other charges carry a maximum of 20 years.

The indictment is the result of an investigation coordinated by the West Central Drug Enforcement Task Force, the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Anderson is prosecuting the case.
