Dunn County, WI – A Colorado man was arrested this week after multiple vehicle thefts and a burglary were reported across Bloomer, Colfax, and Tainter Township, according to the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the Colfax Police Department first received a request around 11:00 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, to check an address in the Village of Colfax for a vehicle stolen from Bloomer. The vehicle was located unoccupied, and a search of the area found no suspects.

By Tuesday morning, Oct. 14, a second vehicle was reported stolen from a Colfax business, Sheriff Kevin Bygd said. A Dunn County deputy later spotted the stolen vehicle on CTH M around 10:07 a.m., and by 11:13 a.m., the driver was stopped and taken into custody on 670th Street near STH 170 in Tainter Township.

The suspect, identified as Christopher P. Barr, 31, of Colorado, was allegedly connected to both vehicle thefts. Deputies also discovered he had broken into the Synergy Gas Station and a camper in Colfax the night before.

Barr has been charged in Dunn County with:

  • WI SS 943.23(2): Take and drive vehicle without consent
  • WI SS 943.10(1m)(a): Burglary
