Menomonie, WI – A rural Pepin County man has been arrested in connection with a pair of residential burglaries reported across Dunn County during the Christmas week, according to the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the first report came on December 24, 2025, when a homeowner in the Township of Eau Galle returned home to find signs of forced entry and missing items. Investigators noted a suspicious vehicle seen in the driveways of two nearby homes. Two days later, another burglary was reported in the Township of Spring Brook, believed to have occurred the same day.

According to Sheriff Kevin Bygd, deputies identified a suspect and vehicle linked to both crimes. On December 27, a Dunn County deputy conducted a traffic stop in Rock Creek, leading to the arrest of 61-year-old William E. Ziemer of rural Pepin County. Deputies said Ziemer was driving a red 2016 Chrysler 300 and that stolen property was visible inside.

The Sheriff’s Office said additional items tied to the earlier burglaries were recovered during an inventory search. Ziemer is currently held at the Dunn County Jail on a $25,000 cash bond and is also under federal probation through the U.S. Probation Office for the Western District of Wisconsin.

Anyone missing property or who noticed suspicious activity around December 24 is urged to contact the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers.
