Duluth, Minnesota – Isolated showers and storms will taper off by 10 a.m. Saturday across northern Minnesota, but smoke and storm chances are expected to linger through much of the upcoming week.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, areas of smoke are drifting in from the north today, with afternoon highs reaching the low to mid-70s. Smoke may reduce visibility at times, especially on Sunday when another round of showers is expected to develop late. Overnight lows will dip into the upper 40s to mid-50s.

Scattered thunderstorms return Sunday night into early Monday, with stronger storms possible Monday night through Wednesday morning. Some storms could become severe, bringing heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning. Highs will stay seasonable, generally ranging from 72°F to 83°F across the region.

Residents in Duluth, Hibbing, and Grand Marais should stay weather-aware, especially during morning commutes early next week. Those with respiratory conditions are advised to limit outdoor activity during smoky periods.

The unsettled weather pattern is expected to continue through Thursday. Additional watches or warnings may be issued as conditions evolve.
