Duluth, MN – Fall weather has returned to northern Minnesota as cooler air settles in behind a passing cold front. According to the US National Weather Service in Duluth, widespread temperatures in the 30s are expected tonight, bringing the season’s first chances for frost across much of the Northland.

Forecasters say temperatures could dip even lower by Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, when widespread freezing conditions are likely. Highs will range from the mid-50s to low 60s through midweek, with lows dropping into the upper 20s to mid-30s in many areas.

By Thursday and Friday, a gradual warm-up is expected, with afternoon highs rebounding into the upper 60s and mostly sunny skies returning to the region. The warming trend should carry into the weekend, offering a brief break from the chilly start to October.

Residents are encouraged to protect sensitive plants and outdoor plumbing as frost and freeze conditions develop overnight.
