Duluth, Minnesota – A chilly start to the week across northeastern Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin will give way to a gradual warming trend, with a brief chance for a wintry mix late Wednesday night into Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, light snow and flurries lingering early Monday will end through the morning hours, followed by partly sunny skies. Daytime temperatures will remain cold early in the week, with highs ranging from the teens to lower 20s through Tuesday.

Clouds will increase Tuesday, and by Wednesday, temperatures are expected to climb into the upper teens to low 20s, with light snow developing late in the day or overnight. Forecast guidance indicates that snow accumulations will remain under one inch, limiting widespread impacts.

Late Wednesday night into Thursday, a wintry mix of rain and snow showers may move into the region as warmer air briefly arrives. High temperatures Thursday are forecast to reach the low to mid-30s, allowing precipitation to mix with rain at times, especially during the daytime hours.

Major travel corridors including Interstate 35 through Duluth, US-2 near Superior, MN-61 along the North Shore, and US-169 in northern Minnesota may see periods of slick travel, particularly overnight when temperatures hover near freezing. Bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads could be most affected.

The National Weather Service notes that aside from the late-week wintry mix, the rest of the week looks relatively quiet, with no significant winter storms expected. Temperatures will cool again Friday, with highs returning to the teens and lower 20s and light snow ending early.

Early-morning commuters, students, and long-distance travelers may notice changing conditions late Wednesday night into Thursday, while daytime travel impacts should remain limited.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts and road conditions as temperatures fluctuate and precipitation changes type later in the week.
