Duluth, MN – Temperatures are expected to plunge well below zero across northern Minnesota tonight as an Arctic cold front sweeps through the region, according to the National Weather Service in Duluth.
Forecasters warn that overnight lows could fall between -10° and -15°, with wind chill values dropping as low as -25° by early Thursday morning. Northwest winds will reinforce the frigid air mass, keeping daytime highs Thursday in the single digits.
The coldest conditions will occur from International Falls to Duluth and along the North Shore, where exposed skin could freeze within minutes under these wind chills. Residents are urged to dress in multiple layers, cover all exposed skin, and limit outdoor time.
The NWS says temperatures may slowly recover by late Thursday, but below-normal cold is expected to persist into the weekend.
