Duluth, MN – A winter storm is bringing heavy snow, ice, and strong winds to northern Minnesota today, making travel hazardous across multiple counties.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, the Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 p.m. Saturday. The affected areas include Koochiching, Cass, and North Itasca counties, with localized snowfall totals reaching up to 8 inches. Ice accumulation up to one-tenth of an inch is also possible, particularly in the western portions of the warning area. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph.

Drivers should prepare for slippery road conditions and reduced visibility. The heaviest snowfall is expected in the morning and early afternoon, with a sharp gradient in accumulation from west to east.
