Duluth, MN – Boaters and beachgoers around Lake Superior should prepare for hazardous marine conditions on Tuesday, as strong winds and high waves are expected near the Twin Ports.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, northeast winds will increase Monday evening and continue through Tuesday, producing waves up to four feet near Duluth and Superior. The agency warns that these conditions could lead to dangerous rip currents along area beaches, particularly near the Twin Ports.

A Small Craft Advisory is in effect from midnight through Tuesday evening. The Weather Service cautions that small boats may struggle in the high waves, and swimmers could face life-threatening currents.

Looking beyond Tuesday, the week ahead brings mostly warm and dry weather for northern Minnesota. Forecasts show daytime highs in the 60s and 70s through Friday, with a mix of clouds and sunshine. Rain chances begin to increase next weekend as cooler air moves into the region.

Residents and visitors are urged to monitor lake conditions before heading out on the water and to avoid swimming during hazardous rip current advisories.
