A cold front is sweeping across northern Minnesota and northern Wisconsin tonight, bringing scattered to widespread rain showers before cooler air settles in for the start of the week. Lows tonight are expected between 37°F and 49°F, with rainfall tapering off from west to east by early Monday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, precipitation chances will peak overnight, with areas such as Brainerd, Hibbing, Ely, and Virginia seeing up to a 75% likelihood of rain between midnight and 3 a.m. Conditions will gradually dry out by sunrise as the front clears the region.
Monday will bring cooler highs ranging from the upper 40s in northern Minnesota to the low 60s in north-central Wisconsin, followed by increasing sunshine through the afternoon. The 3-day outlook shows a brief warming trend midweek, with highs returning to the 50s and 60s by Wednesday.
Forecasters note a slight 20% chance of rain Tuesday afternoon south of Highways MN-210 and WI-77, mainly in southern portions of the Northland.
Residents should expect damp roads and patchy fog overnight before improved travel conditions Monday morning.
