Duluth, Minn. – Drivers across northern Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin will face hazardous travel Monday morning as dense fog blankets the region, reducing visibility to a quarter mile or less.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, the advisory covers much of the Northland, including International Falls, Brainerd, Hibbing, Ely, Two Harbors, Grand Marais, Duluth, and Superior. The fog is expected to lift gradually, with most locations improving by late morning, though conditions near Lake Superior may linger until early afternoon.

The advisory also includes tribal lands of the Fond du Lac Band, Mille Lacs Band, Red Cliff Band, Bad River Reservation, and Grand Portage Reservation, along with Voyageurs National Park, the Boundary Waters, and the Apostle Islands.

Travelers are urged to use caution, slow down, switch on low-beam headlights, and allow extra distance between vehicles. The thick fog may cause sudden changes in visibility, especially on rural highways and near open water.

Dense fog is expected to dissipate by early afternoon, but patchy fog could return overnight into Tuesday morning.
