Duluth, MN – A mix of rain and snow is currently sweeping across northern Minnesota and parts of northwest Wisconsin early Tuesday, bringing varying precipitation types as temperatures fluctuate.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, radar imagery at 1 a.m. Tuesday revealed a broad swath of light to moderate snow impacting areas from International Falls through Duluth, while rain was reported closer to the southern edge of the system, including Hinckley and Moose Lake. Snow is expected to gradually taper off in northeast Minnesota overnight.

Northwest Wisconsin, however, is forecasted to experience a full transition to snow by early Tuesday morning. A localized gravity wave has also been detected along the South Shore, adding complexity to snowfall bands.

Drivers in Duluth, Superior, and Hayward should prepare for slick roads and reduced visibility during the early commute. Residents are urged to monitor local updates as weather conditions shift quickly overnight.

Travelers should plan for extra time and avoid non-essential driving until precipitation clears, which forecasters expect by mid-morning Tuesday.
