Philadelphia, PA — Residents in Philadelphia are facing continued dry conditions as severe drought persists across the region, leaving much of the area with less than 0.10 inches of rainfall this month. Alongside these challenges, temperatures are expected to stay low through midweek, offering little relief to drought conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, while some rainfall was recorded in November and December, January has been much drier than usual. Much of the area remains in severe to extreme drought, and the snowpack has sublimated due to cold, dry air rather than melting into the ground, further worsening water shortages.

Sunday’s forecast predicts sunny skies with highs near 41°F, with temperatures dipping to a low of 24°F overnight. Winds will remain light, coming from the west at 5 to 10 mph. The region will see similar conditions on Monday, with partly cloudy skies and a high near 40°F.

As the dry conditions persist, experts are urging residents to conserve water where possible. Significant rainfall is needed in the coming months to alleviate the drought before spring. Snowfall in the short term would also be beneficial if it melts gradually into the water table.

Looking ahead, Tuesday and Wednesday will bring partly sunny skies with highs reaching the low 40s. Overnight lows will hover in the mid-to-upper 20s, keeping the region firmly in winter’s grip.

Be prepared for chilly days ahead, and continue monitoring updates from local weather authorities for any changes.
