Indianapolis, IN – A car crashed into the Joseph D. Keenan Fire Station in Indianapolis on Saturday evening, causing damage to the building. The incident occurred at approximately 6:59 p.m. when a vehicle reportedly lost control and struck the structure, overturning just outside the station’s entrance.
According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, the driver, a male, and a female passenger, aged 18 and 19, sustained minor injuries. The two were examined by fire personnel and then transported to Eskenazi Health for further evaluation. Fortunately, no firefighters were injured during the event.
The crash left visible damage to the fire station’s exterior, including the impact against the building’s wall. Photos shared by the fire department showed the overturned vehicle and the damage sustained to both the structure and surrounding environment. A nearby tree was also damaged as a result of the incident.
The crash is under investigation by the Indiana University Police Department, who are working to determine the cause of the accident.
