TAMPA, Fla. – Much of Central Florida will see a break from widespread showers today as drier air moves into the region, though parts of Southwest Florida should still prepare for afternoon downpours.
According to the National Weather Service in Ruskin, rain chances drop to just 20–30% for Tampa, Brooksville, and Lakeland, while Sarasota carries a 40% chance. Farther south, heavier activity lingers with a 50–60% chance of storms for Sebring, Arcadia, and Fort Myers.
Afternoon highs will reach the lower 90s, and while humidity remains high, the reduced rainfall will make for sunnier skies across Tampa Bay, the Nature Coast, and interior counties. Drivers in Southwest Florida should remain alert for slick roads during the evening commute, where scattered thunderstorms could develop.
Beachgoers across Pinellas and Manatee counties will find mostly dry conditions, though lightning risks remain higher to the south. Outdoor events in Tampa and Lakeland should stay on schedule, but organizers in Fort Myers and Arcadia may want backup plans.
Lower rain chances will continue for most of Central Florida through midweek, with scattered storms mainly confined to the southern half of the peninsula.
