BRADLEY, IL – In a heartfelt tribute, Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School (BBCHS) is set to dedicate its football stadium to the late Doug “Barc” Barclay, a legendary figure who made a lasting impact both on the field and in the community. The newly christened Doug “Barc” Barclay Memorial Stadium will host its dedication ceremony on Friday, September 22 at 7:00pm.
BBCHS encourages fans to don the trademark “Barc” look for the game against Lockport: BBCHS gear, khaki shorts, and sandals. Those who pay homage with this attire will be granted free entry. The dedication will commence at 7:00pm or 10 minutes post the sophomore game, whichever is later.
Doug Barclay, a staple at BBCHS for 36 years, left an indelible mark through his various roles, from wrestling and football coach to leading the P.E. department. His legacy goes beyond sports. Barclay championed community campaigns, including raising over $25,000 for the Help Your Neighbor organization in the late 80s.
Having passed away in 2017 at age 71, Barclay’s contributions continue to reverberate. The Boilermakers, currently 3-1 this season, and the entire Bradley community aim to ensure his influence is celebrated for generations to come.
