Downers Grove, Ill. — Four Downers Grove North High School students competed at the Nike Outdoor National Championships for track and field last Saturday. They won the 4×800 meter relay.
The team of John Courtney, Will Surratt, Grant Shroder and Philip Cupial became back-to back- Nike Outdoor Nationals champions with their winning performance last Saturday. Their time of 7:34.76 has set a new school record and is now the third fastest time in Illinois history.
The Downers Grove team also won their Class 3A 4×800 Meter Relay on June 1, setting a new meet record with a time of 7:36.40.
Nike Outdoor Nationals is an American middle and high school track and field meet. It is held annually at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon.
