Dover, New Hampshire – A pickup crashed into a state plow truck on Route 16, sending two drivers to hospitals.
According to New Hampshire State Police, the crash was reported shortly after 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2026, on Route 16 North near Exit 7 in Dover.
Troopers assigned to Troop A responded to the scene after reports of a collision involving a pickup truck and a New Hampshire Department of Transportation plow truck.
Preliminary investigators determined the DOT truck — identified as a 2026 International Harvester — was actively plowing the left breakdown lane when a 2026 Nissan Frontier pickup struck the rear of the plow.
Authorities said the pickup became wedged underneath the plow truck, trapping the driver inside the vehicle.
Emergency crews from Dover Fire & Rescue responded and were able to free the driver from the wreckage.
The pickup driver was identified as Michael Willette, 52, of Dover, who was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to state police.
The DOT plow driver, Luke Marsters, 32, of New Durham, was also taken to a hospital for a precautionary evaluation.
The crash temporarily closed both lanes of Route 16 North, with traffic restricted to the right breakdown lane for about one hour while crews cleared the vehicles.
State police said negligent and distracted driving appear to be possible contributing factors, though the crash remains under investigation.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information is asked to contact Trooper Philip Sheehy at Philip.J.Sheehy@dos.nh.gov or (603) 223-4381.
For commuters and students traveling through the Seacoast region, Route 16 is a major corridor linking Dover with Portsmouth and Rochester.
