According to Delaware State Police, the shooting occurred around 5:00 p.m. on November 1, 2025, near North Dupont Highway and Fork Branch Road. Investigators said a 56-year-old Dover woman was traveling southbound when she passed a slower-moving pickup truck. As she stopped at a red light moments later, the truck pulled alongside her on the shoulder, and the driver allegedly fired a single shot, hitting her vehicle before fleeing the scene.

Police described the suspect vehicle as a dark-colored pickup truck pulling a trailer, possibly with a Delaware registration plate. The driver was described as a white male with a slim build, facial hair, and a baseball hat.
