Summerville, SC – A 54-year-old Summerville man was arrested Friday after a high-speed chase in Dorchester County ended with the discovery of methamphetamine and a stolen vehicle, according to the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said they attempted a traffic stop on Ladson Road on September 12, 2025, for a vehicle with defective equipment. The driver allegedly fled, reaching speeds of up to 80 miles per hour before the pursuit ended.

According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect, identified as Jason Paul Allen, was taken into custody without incident. A search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered a clear bag containing a crystal-like substance that tested presumptively positive for methamphetamine. Investigators later confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen.

Allen has been charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, failure to stop for blue lights (second offense), possession of methamphetamine (second offense), and receiving stolen goods. He remains in custody at the L.C. Knight Detention Center.

The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office said it remains committed to ensuring community safety and thanked residents for their continued support.
