Summerville, SC – Three juveniles were taken into custody early Monday, October 13, after a vehicle pursuit linked to a string of car break-ins in Dorchester County, according to the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 2:30 a.m. to the Oakbrook Village Apartments to assist Summerville Police with reports of active vehicle break-ins. Upon arrival, officers spotted a white Honda Civic leaving the complex without headlights, the agency said.
According to investigators, deputies attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle continued at a low rate of speed and failed to stop. The pursuit ended at Bentons Lodge Road and Ladson Road, where deputies successfully halted the vehicle and detained three juveniles.
Authorities later discovered the Honda Civic had allegedly been stolen from the same apartment complex just moments earlier. The Summerville Police Department confirmed the suspects were connected to at least 10 vehicle break-ins in the area.
“Collaboration with our law enforcement partners is key to keeping our citizens safe,” said Sheriff Sam Richardson in a statement, praising the joint effort between agencies.
The Summerville Police Department is leading the ongoing investigation.
