Dodge County, WI – Drivers traveling through Dodge County faced major disruptions Wednesday morning after a commercial truck crash forced the closure of a busy stretch of U.S. Highway 151.

According to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 6:15 a.m. Wednesday to a commercial motor vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 151 northbound at State Highway 26 in the Town of Chester, Dodge County. The crash involved a tractor-trailer that left the roadway, struck a guardrail, and overturned.

Preliminary investigation indicates a 61-year-old man from Marshall, Wisconsin, was operating a 2015 Peterbilt tractor-trailer northbound when the vehicle veered left for reasons still under investigation. The crash caused the truck to overturn and block both northbound lanes of U.S. 151.

As a result, U.S. 151 northbound remains closed between the State Highway 26 off-ramp and on-ramp, with traffic being detoured off the highway and redirected back on immediately after the crash site. Motorists are advised to expect minor delays and possible backups, particularly while crossing State Highway 26.

Authorities say the detour could remain in place for an extended period, as the commercial vehicle must be offloaded before it can be safely removed from the roadway.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Waupun Fire Department, Waupun Police Department, Dodge County Emergency Response Team (DCERT), Dodge County Highway Department, Wisconsin Department of Transportation, and the Wisconsin State Patrol.

The crash remains under investigation by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with questions is asked to contact Sheriff Dale J. Schmidt.

Drivers are urged to use alternate routes when possible and allow extra travel time during the morning commute.
